Families have not yet found the bodies of their loved ones following the KZN floods

Several families in and around Durban have not yet found the bodies of their missing loved ones after the devastating floods.

Sinenhlanhla Hlope was one of nine family members who were at home in KaCutshwayo when the mudslides collapsed and washed their homes.

The body of a single family member, his mother, was found. He says seven of his loved ones are still missing, including his one-year-old son.

“There are eight members of our family who were washed away by the flood, we think they were late, we found our mother dead a few miles from here on the Desai River. We were buried, but the other seven people are still missing, ”says Hlope.

Hlope called on those charged with tracing the missing people not to give up.

“We’ll only be locked up if at least our loved ones are buried,” Hlope says.
