Accreditation of four United Nations Agency Representatives to the Seychelles

Four new representatives of United Nations agencies (UN), namely: United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), International Labor Organization (ILO), and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) , hand over their credentials to Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Tourism, at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Maison Quéau de Quinssy, this morning.

Minister Radegonde congratulated the representatives on their accreditation and, on behalf of the Government, he thanked the UN agencies for the support they have provided the Seychelles over the years. Minister Radegonde reiterated Seychelles’ commitment and noted that “As a proud member of your agency, Seychelles remains focused and committed to engaging on a wide range of issues that are important and important to our development.”

The UN representative commended the Seychelles for its resilience and management against the COVID-19 pandemic. They update the Minister They update the various areas of cooperation between the Seychelles and their respective agencies, as well as upcoming projects and expected outcomes. Strong cooperation, which Minister Radegonde said has the potential to be further “expanded”.

The UN Representative consists of Mr Hubert Gijzen Regional Director and Representative for UNESCO, Mr Charles Mbuli Boliko, Country Representative for FAO; Dr. Coffi Agossou, ILO Country Director; and Mr. Koffi Kouame, UNFPA Country Director; and they were all present in the Seychelles to participate in the annual United Nations Country Team Retreat, which brought together all Heads of United Nations agencies. They were accompanied by Mrs. Christine Umutoni, United Nations Resident Coordinator for the Seychelles and Mauritius.

Also present during the accreditation ceremony were Ambassador Vivianne Fock Tave, Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs; Ms. Amenda Padayachy, Director General of Multilateral Affairs; and other senior State Department officials.
