The 33rd Africa Cup of Nations Total Energy AFCON2021 will open on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Yaoundé’s Olembé Stadium.
With the upcoming event, the excitement is in full swing and stakeholders are increasing the initiative to make this edition a glorious success.
On Thursday, January 6, 2022, the African Union of Broadcasting began opening a fan zone in front of key figures and the general public.
In a solemn ceremony, AUB CEO Grégoire Ndjaka recalled the importance of sport in social peacebuilding and resilience.
Soccer, one of the most popular sports in the world, has a positive impact on hard-working young people with stable incomes. Therefore, he encouraged broadcasters to promote sports in general, especially football, as a sign of social cohesion and tolerance.
Ndjaka presented the game as a discipline for the masses, not just the elite.
The AUB Fun Zone is located in Messamendongo, a suburb of Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon. Access is free and will be open from January 6th to February 6th, 2022.
In addition to the fan zone, AUB has set up a temporary headquarters consisting of an AFCON monitoring unit and a production center.
It will be distributed by the APO Group on behalf of the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB).
