Mmamoloko Kubayi, head of economic transformation for the African National Congress (ANC), says the party has done so Draft amendments to the National Development Plan (NDP) Economic document aimed at implementing major economic strategies.
The party has defended its latest draft economic policy document.
The document, which has yet to be discussed, proposes changes in the areas of skills development, small business and digital transformation.
The document also proposes modernizing the country’s post office to make it more digital-friendly.
Kubayi outlined some of the changes from the newly drafted document.
“We have received feedback that we are good at politics [formulation] but not [in] Implementation. There are areas we need to focus on and we are now saying how we should emphasize implementation. we [have] just updated these parts [and we are] will bring new areas that never were.”
“[They include] Proposals to separate the informal and the small from the macro, the issue of just transition, the issues around alternative energies, around hydrogen, digital economy [and] the 4th industrial revolution. This is a policy document for discussion, allowing people to participate. We like to listen and are ready to accept input,” explains Kubayi.
