ANCYL urges ANC leaders to stop defending wrongdoing – SABC News

Nonceba Mhlawuli, the head of the Youth Department of the African Parliament, has urged ANC leaders to stop defending the wrong things that are happening in the party.

She says Mandla Msibi’s election as ANC treasurer in Mpumalanga last weekend should not have happened. Msibi faces double murder charges in Nelspruit court.

Mhlawuli says it is against the ANC to see leaders stand up and justify Msibi’s election. She says the resolutions of the party’s 54th election meeting clarify the step aside.

In a speech at Mamelodi West Cemetery in Pretoria, commemorating the death of Solomon Mahlangu, who died in 1979 during the separatist movement, the youth ward supervisor said: “We do it every day. “Last weekend, we justified the election of someone who is in court for a particular offense and we had to stand up and Gwen’s partner and everyone stood in front of the media and justified that action.”

On Monday Mandla Msibi, the newly elected ANC treasurer in Mpumalanga, has been asked to step aside.

Pule Mabe’s Mpumalanga Treasurer Msibi stepping aside, Bathabile Dlamini’s fate:

ANC officials wrote a letter to Msibi, saying he would have to write a letter informing them that he would step down from his post, which he had only held for a few days.

Msibi is facing a double murder charge and is expected to be heard in the Supreme Court in Nelspruit later this year.

The ANC in Mpumalanga held its 13th regional conference last weekend, chaired by Mandla Ndlovu, his deputy, Speedy Mashilo.
