Former Orlando Pirates striker James Mothibi is not sure new coach Jose Riveiro is the right man to succeed at the club, saying the Bucs could have gone on someone like Adel Amrouche.

Pirates announced last weekend that the Spanish-born Riveiro was the head coach.
Mothibi, however, believes Riveiro was a poor choice, saying the coach does not have experience of coaching a big club like Pirates.
“The coach is inexperienced, which only raises many questions, especially for a big club like Pirates. At Pirates, there’s a lot of pressure, so it already puts it in the spotlight. Not only are you there to be a coach, but you are there to represent people, people who have died for the club, people who are paying to enter the stadium with their hard earned money, ”he said. said Mothibi.
“Pirates is a brand, it’s a big club and there’s so much to look forward to. There is a lot of history behind the club, you are fighting for someone like Irvin Khoza, who worked so hard to find sponsors for the team. Pirates are not an easy team. I respect the coach, but he must know that the pressure is enormous [at Pirates]. ”
‘Does he know a Party? Does he know that Pirates play in Africa? Yes, we may not be qualified to play at the Caf games (Caf club competitions) for next season, but that does not mean that Pirates are not a big team. ”
As this is only Riveiro’s second job as head coach of a senior team, Mothibi is worried about the pressure he will face on Pirates.
Mothibi believes former MC Alger and Botswana national team coach Adel Amrouche was the best candidate for the job.
“That said, we can’t judge him at the moment, we need to see what he brings. But his profile raises questions; there is a coach I have recommended who has experience in Africa, West and South Africa. He was ready to coach Pirates. It also has many facilities and good professionalism. The coach I’m talking about is Adel Amrouche, you must know him. He was the coach of Botswana, they were good too, they played good football, ”he said.
“Again, people at senior management know what they are doing. Let’s see how it does, though I’m not sure. “
Amrouche is currently the coach of Yemen’s national team.
