Most of the Belgian government’s computer network is down today after a massive distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack taken both internal systems and public websites offline. From a report: The attack targeted Belnet, a government-funded ISP that provides internet connectivity to Belgian government organizations, such as its Parliament, educational institutions, ministries and research centers. The incident, which Belnet is still facing at the time of writing, is said to have impacted the activities of more than 200 Belgian government organizations. Relevant services include My Minfin, the official government filing and forms portal, but also computer systems used by schools and universities for distance learning applications. In a tweet today, the Belgian Justice Ministry also reported disturbances but did not go into details.
