The Supreme Court of Bisho in Eastern Cape Town has rejected a request for separation of justice in the Mandela Fraud Scandal case. The application was submitted by the number one accused, Phumlani Mkolo.
Mkolo has previously submitted a number of applications in this case, including one that sought Judge Igna Stretch dismissedwhich was also rejected.
There have been some delays in the case which have prevented the start of the trial.
Among the accused are Luleka Simon-Ndzele, former president of Buffalo City, former mayor of Zukiswa Ncitha, and former deputy mayor Themba Tinta, former Minister of Health of Eastern Cape Sindiswa Gomba, and former supply chain manager of the municipality, Thembelani Sali.
They are charged with fraud, money laundering and violations of local government laws related to the memorial service for former President Nelson Mandela.
