Boehly-led team wins on stage to take over Chelsea – SABC News

LA Dodgers team-mate Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have won the race to sign Premier League club Chelsea on a 0 4.0 billion deal, the British Telegraph reported on Friday.

The plan has been sent to the government and the Premier League for approval.

With nearly three weeks on the company’s current charter, which expires May 31, Boehly is set to complete its management by the end of this month, the Telegraph reported.

Russian owner Roman Abramovich, who is now banned by the British government, has joined the London club for sale in early March as his country invades Ukraine.

Abramovich cleared the way for his return on Thursday after ending reports that he wanted a loan to the company, which reportedly cost 1.5 billion pounds ($ 1.85), to be repaid.

Boehly’s team, which also includes Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss and British real estate investor Jonathan Goldstein, were in special talks to buy the club when a loan was rejected by British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe.

Boston Celtics owner Stephen Pagliuca and former British Airways president Martin Broughton were initially fired from the booking process where the Chicago Cubs owners led the Ricketts family out of the race.
