Brad Pitt says Jolie sought ‘harm’ by selling vineyard stake to Russian oligarch

Brad Pitt accused his ex-wife Angelina Jolie of trying to “harm” him by selling his 50 percent stake in his French vineyard to a Russian oligarch who had “poisonous associations and secrets”.

The allegations, made in new court filings as part of Pitt’s law against Jolie over the sale of Chateau Miraval, are the latest barb in a bitter legal battle between the former Hollywood power couple who filed for divorce in 2016.

Last October, Jolie She sold her share of the vineyards of southern France – where she and Pitt had their marriage – to Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of Russian-born billionaire Yuri Shefler, a beverages conglomerate.

Pitt sued in February, saying the couple refused to sell their interests without the other’s consent, and alleged Jolie for seeking “unearned” profits.

In a revised complaint seen by AFP, Pitt’s lawyers argue “Jolie tried to harm Pitt” with the sale, and describe Shefler as “a stranger to poisonous associations and minds.”

The filing obtained by a court in Los Angeles last Friday alleges that Shefler is “maintaining personal and professional relationships with individuals in Vladimir Putin’s inner circle.”

Shefler has long been an outspoken critic of Putin, and its drinks conglomerate Stoli Group is based in Latvia.

In March, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Shelfer issued a statement stating that he had been “exiled from Russia since 2002 because of my opposition to Putin,” and rebranded his company as ” solidarity with Ukraine ”.

But Pitt’s most recent filing states: “Despite Shefler’s desperate attempt to disassociate himself from Putin’s regime, the Stoli brand is now a huge international liability.”

He says: “Stoli vodka is synonymous with Russia, as evidenced by the numerous images of consumers pouring Stoli vodka down the drain.”

“Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Miraval’s insurer has been seeking assurances that Shefler is not aligned with Putin and that affiliation with Stoli would not create commercial risk,” the filing says.

The complaint also lists Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman within Shefler’s “network of poorly qualified professional partners” who “threatens to permanently damage Miraval’s”.

‘False Tell’ –

The Stoli Group did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A source close to the case told AFP that Jolie decided to sell because she and her children were “unable to return” to Chateau Miraval, and that she had made multiple offers to her ex-husband before signing the agreement with Shefler.

Pitt’s lawsuit against Jolie was “an extension of falsehood” and “the truth of the matter has not yet been published,” the source said.

When the highest profile couple Tinseltown, Pitt and Jolie first met after co – starring as married assassins in the 2005 film “Mr. and Mrs Smith. ” Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston at the time.

The A-listers announced in 2018 that they had reached an amicable settlement for their children – three biological and three adopted – but any agreement seemed to fall apart quickly.

Last July, Jolie scored a victory in their custody battle when the private judge overseeing their divorce and custody case was disqualified from the case.
