JOHANNESBURG – Business Unity South Africa said it noted with grave concern the blockage of the N3 by truckers and reports of disruption on some of the alternative routes between Johannesburg and Durban.
The N3 at Van Reenen was once again blocked by truckers who abandoned their vehicles.
The exact reason for the protest has yet to be revealed.
BUSA said this is a recurring occurrence and has consistently called on the government to take proactive steps to end such lockdowns and arrest those responsible.
He said the economic impact of the blockages was evident given that the N3 is an essential artery for transporting essential and strategic goods between Johannesburg and Durban, and to areas like Richards Bay.
