Buttler hundred knocks Rajasthan to the IPL final – SABC News

Rajasthan Royals secured a place in the Indian Premier League (IPL) final against the Gujarat Titans after one hundred Jos Buttler secured a seven-goal victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Friday’s qualifier in Ahmedabad.

After Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson won the throw and took the field, their bowling attack laid the foundation for a comprehensive victory by limiting Bangalore to 157-8.

Buttler, the leading IPL goal scorer this season, then struck 106 out of 60 balls when the 2008 Rajasthan champions went home with 11 balls to spare.

Sunday’s final will be a replay of Tuesday’s first qualifier on Tuesday as IPL’s Gujarat beat Rajasthan by seven goals. Bangalore did not get started and exceeded 150 goals largely due to the 58-storey Rajat Patidar.

In other respects, Bangalore did not go crazy against the disciplined bowling of Rajasthan under the leadership of Prasidh Krishna and Obed McCoy, who received three wires each.

Krishna sent off Virat Kohli for seven in the second half and McCoy removed Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis (25) in 11th to diminish Bangalore’s top flight. Glenn Maxwell also could not take advantage of the start he got and was fired by Trent Boult in 24.

Patidar hit three sixes in their 42-ball game, but Bangalore were still well below 175 goals, which would have been a couple of points on the ground. Rajasthan’s chase started off wildly with Buttler keeping his hot form and raising 61 runs on five strokes with starting partner Yashasvi Jaiswal (21).

Buttler was 66th when Dinesh Karthik released him in what turned out to be a costly mistake. Samson fell before 23 but Buttler could not be denied the fourth hundred this season and the Englishman sealed the victory for Rajasthan with his sixth hundred.
