Chad Peace Talks kick off in Doha

Chad peace talks began today in Doha, with the participation of representatives of the Transitional Military Council and armed groups in Chad.

The opening was attended by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, HE Prime Minister of the Transitional Government of the Republic of Chad Bahimi Badaki Albert, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Libya Najla Al-Manqoush, HE Chair of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat, HE Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs State of Qatar for Combating Terrorism and Mediation in Dispute Resolution Mutlaq bin Majid Al Qahtani, and a number of senior ministers, officials, diplomats and representatives of international and regional organizations.

Foreign Minister Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi stressed that the Chad peace negotiations that started in Doha today are Chad-Chad negotiations led by Chad, and the State of Qatar in its capacity as facilitator and host, will do everything to make it successful.

His Majesty said in his State of Qatar speech today at the opening session of the Chad peace talks that the State of Qatar has friendly relations with the Republic of Chad and Qatar hopes that these relations will continue and develop at various levels, so that Qatar does not hesitate to accept the invitation of the Chadian brothers to host this negotiation house, which Qatar confirmed that there are Chad negotiations led by Chad, and the State of Qatar in its capacity as facilitator and host, will do everything to make it successful.

His Majesty added that the State of Qatar is a peace-loving country and the Qatari people are peace-loving people and Qatar has no doubt that the brothers in Chad are also peace-loving, and therefore Qatar wishes the negotiations to be successful here.

His Majesty added that the hopes of many people depend on these negotiations, and the Chadian people are entitled to enjoy peace, security, stability, development and prosperity. Therefore, every effort must be made to achieve this goal for the benefit of this and future generations, and in order to achieve this, it is necessary to put the national interest above all interests, placing consensus and reconciliation as a priority above all else. priorities, and being thoughtful and realistic.

His Holiness noted that Chad, like other developing countries, is facing major development challenges that require every effort to move forward on the path of progress and prosperity.

His Holiness said that there is no doubt that political stability and security are prerequisites given the interrelationships between security, peace, development and human rights factors, and this is considered an additional incentive to make every possible effort for the success of peace negotiations.

His Holiness welcomed the participants in the Chad peace talks, and said that Qatar is pleased to host the talks in Doha, as it has always hosted many successful peace talks and negotiations that contribute to achieving regional and international security, stability and peace.

His Holiness hopes that the Chadian peace negotiations in Doha will succeed in uniting the viewpoints of the Chadian people, reaching a fruitful consensus, and achieving the aspirations of millions of Chadians, adding that he hopes the State of Qatar has an active role. in the noble pursuit of this goal.
