Sky Sports has reported that Sterling’s transfer to London is “imminent” although a fee has yet to be agreed between City and Chelsea.

Sterling, 27, is in the final year of his contract at the Etihad, but City is expected to hold out for a fee of around £ 45 million ($ 54 million).

The international Englishman has won four Premier League titles among nine big trophies since joining City of Liverpool in 2015.

A key player in the early years of Pep Guardiola’s reign at City, Sterling has scored 131 goals in 337 appearances for English champions.

However, his regular place in the front line at City is under further threat due to Jack Grealish’s signing for a £ 100 million Premier League record last year, as well as the emergence of Phil Foden from the club’s academy.

City also added to their attacking options for the new season with the arrival of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

Chelsea are in the market for goal scorers after allowing Romelu Lukaku to sign the record return to Inter Milan on loan a year after spending £ 97 million on the Belgian striker.

New chairman Boehly has put himself at the forefront of the transfer negotiations with the American also acting as interim sports director following the radical overhaul of the Stamford Bridge hierarchy regime.
