lions captain Burger Odendaal had a moment to forget late in her 43-37 Currie Cup loss to the Bulls on Saturday at Loftus Versfeld.
HOW IT HAPPENED | Bulls vs Lions
The Bulls led by a meager point (38-37) in the final five minutes and launched a powerful attack on the Lions’ tryline.
After regaining possession, the desperate guests tried to run the ball out of their own goal-line area. A few risky passes followed before Odendaal threw the ball straight into Richard Kriel’s hands as the backup defender went down in rather comical circumstances.
The bulls missed the subsequent conversion, but the lions didn’t have enough time to catch up.

The victory put the Bulls back on top Currie Cup Placement.
the cheetahs, who beat the Sharks 44:15 in Bloemfontein the previous SaturdayHe had overtaken the bulls at the front for a couple of hours.
The Bulls (42 points) are a point clear of the Cheetahs, despite the Pretoria men having played a game more.
The winless Lions remain bottom of the table after 10 straight losses. But they will take heart from this performance, which is arguably their best in the Currie Cup to date.
