As human activities such as agricultural production, mining and pollution continue to drive the so-called sixth mass extinction, government negotiators from around the world are now meeting in Geneva to work to protect the planet’s biodiversity. An ambitious Paris-style nature pact, finalized at the COP15 summit in Kunming, China in August, is at stake. Madeleine Finlay tells Geneva-based reporter Patrick Greenfield what’s being discussed, how the talks are going, and how little time is left to stop the destruction of life on Earth.
