Coronavirus-Eritrea: Announcement from the Ministry of Health (January 4, 2022)

A test conducted today at quarantine centers and testing stations in the Central, Southern, Anseba, and Gashbarka regions found 65 patients to be COVID-19 positive.

Of these, 44 patients come from quarantine centers (11) and laboratory stations (33) in central Asmara. Ten patients come from the testing stations of Maidima (3), Adi Ugri (2), Adikei (1), Dechemhare (1), Zorena (1), Adikuara (1), and Duvalwa (1). Southern region. Nine patients are from Keren’s Quarantine Center (1), Elaveret’s Testing Station (6), and Adite Kelesan (2). Anseba region. The two patients are from a test station in Gilmaika, Gashvarka region.

Meanwhile, 35 patients treated at hospitals in the Central (17), Southern (9), and Anseba (9) regions recovered completely and were discharged from these facilities. Sadly, a pandemic killed an 86-year-old patient in the central region.

Accordingly, the total number of recovered patients increased to 7,819 and the number of deaths increased to 77.

The total number of cases confirmed in Japan has increased to 8,128 so far.
