JOHANNESBURG – Labor federation Cosatu said heckling by African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa was regrettable.
Ramaphosa was booed and told to leave a Cosatu May Day rally on Sunday by disgruntled employees of Sibanye Stillwater’s gold operations.
The president left the Royal Bafokeng Stadium and was escorted by a police inyala.
They are asking the government to intervene in their salary negotiations.
Cosatu’s Sizwe Pamla said that although they warned their alliance partners of the tensions, what happened was unfortunate.
Pamla said they would investigate the incident.
“We will deal with this issue next week,” he said.
