Covid-19: SA exceeds 15 million vaccination marks

South Africa has passed the 15 million immunization mark.

  • South Africa has received more than 15 million Covid-19 vaccinations as of Tuesday.
  • Domestic infectious diseases have increased by 2699 cases in the last 24 hours.
  • KwaZulu Natal leads the pack with 932 cases.

South Africa has exceeded the 15 million Covid-19 vaccination mark as of Tuesday.

According to the national health department dashboard, 15 188 787 vaccinations were in place at 17:00.

This is due to the data collected by the electronic vaccination data system, except for the vaccination records recorded on paper.

The country has recorded 3699 new confirmed Covid-19 cases and 300 deaths in the last 24 hours.

According to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), this brings the total number of cases confirmed in the laboratory to 2 864534.

“Most of today’s new cases are from KwaZulu Natal [25%], Followed by the Eastern Cape [18%].. Western Cape accounted for 17%. Free states accounted for 14%. Gauteng accounted for 9%. The Northern Cape accounted for 8%. The northwest accounted for 5%. Mpumalanga accounted for 4% and Limpopo accounted for 1% of today’s new cases, “NICD said in a statement.

KZN recorded 932 cases, followed by 663 cases in Eastern Cape and 633 cases in West Cape.

To date, a total of 85,302 Covid-19-related deaths have been recorded.

NICD added that 323 hospitalizations have increased in the last 24 hours, up from 163 recorded Monday hospitalizations.

According to the agency, the current cumulative number of collections is 2 688 692, with a recovery rate of 93.9%.

To date, 17 142604 tests have been conducted in both the public and private sectors.
