DA says foreign nationals are treated as scapegoats for government failures – SABC News

THE Democratic Alliance (DA) criticized the ANC government as such DA “Inhuman treatment of people,” says John Steenhuisen, following a senior surveillance visit, to check on the situation of foreign nationals in the home affairs offices in Newtown Johannesburg.

Steenhuisen’s visit followed several violent incidents targeting foreign nationals across the country in recent weeks.

THE DA believes that foreign nationals are being made a scapegoat and that the failure of the ANC government to eradicate corruption and internal incompetence is undermining the rule of law in South Africa.

Steenhuisen says: “Even if we cannot provide these services to our citizens, it is no wonder that we are now struggling with the huge problem of undocumented migration in South Africa. Because even those who want to get the right documentation face the huge wall of corruption, maladministration, and total inhuman treatment of people, and that is why I have the saddest conversation with people today. And obviously that’s not good enough. So from the inside, I want to know what the delays are, why we are in line, and what needs to be done on their side to improve the situation. ”
