Three police officers were arrested on suspicion of being associated with a wilderness incident in the Western Cape.
This was due to Brigadier General Novela Poterwa, a spokesperson for the state police, after a briefing by Police Minister Bheki Cele on Thursday.
Sele briefed in the media with his counterparts from Cape Town and the state government.

According to Sele, some police officers, including members of the unnamed Deputy Minister’s Conservation Unit, have been investigated and arrested for extortion in and around Cape Town.
“It was the guardian of the Deputy Minister who was arrested in connection with the kidnapping and extortion-related incidents. He was arrested on March 14,” said Poterwa.
According to Sele, 105 blackmail cases have occurred since January 2020.
A total of 67 cases are still under investigation, and 106 people involved in the blackmail case have been arrested and charged.
