A ministerial delegation from Djibouti will attend and participate in South Sudan Oil & Power (SSOP) 2022 (https://bit.ly/3Ny83jx) – hosted by Energy Capital & Power (ECP) (www.EnergyCapitalPower.com) – on September 13-14 in Juba. Led by HE Yonis Ali Guedi, Minister of Energy, who will speak live at the event, the delegation includes Dabar Adaweh Ladieh, Director General of the Société Internationale des Hydrocarbures de Djibouti; Wahib Ali Boulo, Director of Hydrocarbons at the Ministry of Energy; Mahdi Waberi Hassan, Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Energy; and HE Hassan Robleh, Ambassador of Djibouti to South Sudan.

Representing a strategic base in the Horn of Africa (the United States, Japan, France, Italy, Spain, China and Saudi Arabia have military bases in the country), Djibouti is an important partner for South Sudan in various fields including logistics and infrastructure. In the energy sector, Djibouti can benefit from partnerships as an importer of oil and fuels and as a country embarking on its journey to discover and develop mineral resources. South Sudan views Djibouti as an export market for energy services and products, as a strategic regional hub for its many international allies, and as a partner in regional development.

The participation of the Djiboutian delegation at the SSOP demonstrates the closer alliance between the two countries, and the potential for further cross-border energy projects in the region. The SSOP will host important meetings between Djibouti’s Ministry of Energy and South Sudan’s Ministry of Oil, and other oil and energy ministers from across the region. “Djibouti is a crossroads between Africa and the Middle East, and it will become an increasingly important partner for South Sudan. ECP is honored to welcome this delegation to SSOP 2022 and host this important bilateral discussion,” said James Chester, ECP Senior Director.
