Eskimo It has been announced that phase 6 loading will be implemented from 4pm to 10pm on Tuesday evenings.

Spokesman Sikonathi Mantshantsha said the load unloading will then be reduced to phase 2 until 5am on Wednesday morning.

“From 5am to 4pm on Wednesday the load unloading will be implemented at phase 4. Then Phase 6 will be re-implemented at 4pm until 10pm tomorrow evening.”

“This is due to the illegal and unprotected labor act, which has severely disrupted Eskom’s power stations. This has forced Eskom to continue to take precautionary measures to preserve generation capacity and protect plants from damage, ”said Mantshantsha.

He said there is a risk that the phase of load loss will need to be changed at any time, depending on the condition of the power plants.

“Eskom continues to closely monitor the system, adjusting and notifying any changes as necessary. We call on all South Africans to help limit the impact of the shortage by continuing to reduce electricity consumption and to switch off all unnecessary goods. ”

“Three of the 10 generating units that stumbled overnight were returned to service. However, this is not enough to stop the implementation of phase 6 load loading this afternoon and tomorrow evening. ”

Mantshantsha said Eskom currently has 3,218MW of planned maintenance, with a further 17,621MW of capacity unavailable due to breakdowns.

“We would like to remind the public that dissolution is only a last resort to protect the national grid. We therefore urge all South Africans to continue to use electricity sparingly, especially during this uncertain time on the power system. ”
