Eskom reiterates call for reduced power consumption to limit power outages – SABC News

Eskom has repeatedly called on the public to help limit the effect of power outages by reducing electricity consumption over the Easter weekend.

Power outages in the 2nd stage will continue until five o’clock on Friday morning.

Eskom spokesman Sikonathi Mantshantsha says a further deterioration in production capacity could lead to further power outages next week.

“The electricity system is still fragile and while it continues, Eskom will continue with the current case of load shedding, as previously announced, which will be stopped at 5 o’clock on Friday. We inform the public that further deterioration in production capacity may require further stress relief. That is why we are asking the public to continue to use electricity sparingly, especially on long weekends, to help renew their emergency supplies in the run-up to next week, “said Mantshantsha.
