Eskom announced that it has resumed phase 2 outages from 5pm Tuesday to 5am Wednesday due to a lack of generating capacity.
The utility says there is a greater chance of sequential outages if the generating capacity gets worse.
They say the limited supply situation is likely to last all week.
Eskom spokesperson Sikhonathi Mantshantsha said, “As previously communicated, load balancing was stopped at 05:00 this morning. However, due to the continuing shortage of generating capacity, Eskom regrets to inform the public that two-stage load shedding will be re-implemented from 17:00 this evening. Road shedding stops at 05:00 on Wednesdays. Eskom wants to let the public know that this limited supply situation will last all week and that more load shedding is likely to be enforced if generating capacity gets worse.”
