Eskom has announced that rolling power outages will be suspended from 12 noon on Saturday.
According to the electricity provider, the emergency reserves have been properly replenished and will be available to support the system next week.
Eskom has had power outages since Tuesday.
Eskom spokesman Sikhonathi Mantshantha says the public is being asked to continue to use electricity sparingly.
“The power system has been restored to a level where load reduction can be stopped today at 12 noon on Saturday. The contingency reserves have been properly replenished and will be available next week to support the system. Although we brought these generators back, with the advent of winter, demand has increased, leading to a limited system throughout the winter. That is why we urge all South Africans to continue to use electricity sparingly. Eskom would like to thank once again the patience and support of the South African population during this period of stress, ”said Eskom spokesman Sikhonathi Mantshantsha.
