The process of the former eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede and 21 other defendants are expected to finally appear in the High Court in Durban on Monday.
They are accused of fraud, corruption, money laundering and disasters.
This is in connection with a alleged irregular tender from Durban Solid Waste of 340 million rand issued in 2017.
Last month, the issues were raised in advance between the state and defense.
At the center of the latter is the alleged irregular tender of Durban Solid Waste of 2017 for an amount of R340 million.
In the indictment, Gumede is the main figure in the case, with the tender being taken while she was mayor.
Another prominent accused is the former municipal manager of eThekwini – Sipho Nzuza.
During previous proceedings, it was revealed that some of the suspects did not have the funds to pay their legal representatives after their funds were frozen following a court application by the Asset Forfeiture Unit.
