President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared the government’s commitment to ensure this the survival of the state arms manufacturer Denel.
He says Denel is important in ensuring that South Africa maintains its capability for arms production.
Ramaphosa answers questions in parliament and says there is still a lot of interest from other countries on the continent in buying military equipment from South Africa.
He added that South Africa could not afford to lose Denel’s production capacity, especially in light of the current world situation where some countries are easily embroiled in conflict.
President Cyril Ramaphosa answers questions in Althingi:
He says he wants to see the company back on its feet and return more profit as part of state-owned companies.
“In the wider geopolitics of the world, you do not leave as an industrialized country as we are, companies like Denel.
“Denel, which will be able to build, produces the kind of equipment we need in these times and times, given the tendency of a lot of power to resort to violence rather than solve negotiations problems.”
