Helicopters were launched into the raging fire in Cape Winelands

Fire in Cape Wineland.

Two helicopters and a fire brigade were deployed Wednesday afternoon to quell a raging fire at a farm in McGregor, Cape Winelands.

The fire was presumably caused by sparks from electrical wires.

Cape Winelands District Council spokesman Jo-Anne Otto said management is currently burning out.

“No damage to the orchards has been reported at this stage, but the fire is burning in the natural hut.

“With the help of two helicopters and three ground teams, fire brigades are actively involved in various firefighting activities, including the protection of structures,” he added.
