Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has announced that his final 23-man squad will face Morocco in the opening match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
The Keegan Dolly of the Kaizer Chiefs is one of the biggest offsets in the team, following a tough season full of injuries. Fortune Makaringe has since apologized for the inconvenience as Broos gathered 14 men from his first group of 37 people.
Despite a fantastic season, Mamelodi Sundowns’ Andile Jali has once again ignored the Belgian. Jali was nominated for five awards including the PSL Footballer of the season.
Organizing the first leg, Cape Town City striker Khanyisa Mayo, and Kaizer Chiefs’ Phathutshedzo Nange, won their first international title.
Skipper Ronwen Williams will join AmaZulu’s Veli Mothwa and Chiefs’ Bruce Bvuma in the middle of the stage.
Al Ahly’s Percy Tau will lead the team, as well as Orlando Pirates Thembinkosi Lorch, Fagrie Lakey and MSL based in Bongokuhle Hlongwane.
South Africa is set in Group K, which includes Liberia. FIFA has banned Zimbabwe from competing in international competitions due to political interference.
