Interior Design & Technology – Abarth 595

Easy on the eyes

Although based on the Fiat 500, the 595 is pure Abarth inside. Offers four levels of sports decoration – between the entry-level 595 Turismo, the Competizione and the high-end Esseesse. The board matches the exterior color of the body at the decoration level, e.g. Turismo has a satin gray board, while Competizione comes with anthracite gray.

Other interior features include an Alcantara-covered cabinet, a racing car-inspired separate torque counter, an aluminum gearbox, leather sports seats and satin chrome accents on the door handles. There is also a Visibility Plus Pack equipped with full LED automatic self-leveling headlights, LED daytime running lights, rain sensor, dust sensor, headlight washer and rear parking sensors.

There is plenty of space in the front for the head and shoulders to provide comfort for passengers on short journeys, but space for the rear passengers is quite narrow. In terms of storage, the 185-liter boot has enough space for a weekly store, though the rear 50/50 seats can be moved to carry larger items. The door bins are a bit narrow and the glove box is quite small. The two cup holders are located in the front center console and none due to the absence of the rear center console.

Be fun and connected

The Uconnect system is standard throughout the range. Compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, its noticeable connectivity features include:

  • My remote control: checks the battery charge level from the smartphone; Plan your car charging at the most convenient times; Know the exact location of the car; Lock and open the doors and install a climate control system.
  • My Navigation: Set a destination on the car navigator, identify the route, check the traffic and weather conditions along the route and see the speed camera and the locations of the charging points, all directly from the app.
  • My Assistant: An assistance system that fills in an emergency call to talk to an assistant and request assistance in the event of an accident.
  • Help with my theft: It controls the car so that it can be restored in case of theft.
  • My Wi-Fi: A real hotspot that connects up to eight electronic devices to the network at once.
  • My car: To check the condition of the car, immediately check the various settings from tire pressure to service schedule.

In terms of audio, the BeatsAudio system is available. It has a total power of 480 W and is equipped with an 8-channel digital amplifier alignment algorithm that can recreate the entire range of sound that the performer experiences during studio recordings. The system consists of two domed tweezers located in the front columns; Two 165mm mid-woofers in the front doors; Two 165mm full-range speakers in the rear panels; And a center-mounted 200mm subwoofer in the spare wheel compartment in the trunk.

On the way

A noticeable standard feature of the updated range is the “Sport Mode” selector, called the “Scorpion mode” in the new range. Pressing a button on the dashboard affects the maximum torque, steering calibration and engine response of the accelerator pedal, making them sharper.

The 1.4-liter turbo gasoline engine is available in three levels: the 595 runs at 145 hp, the 165 increases to the Turismo version, and the Competizione and Esseesse 180 hp.

Our Competizione uses the Brembo brake system with 4-piston aluminum monoblock fixed calipers. Red carpets are standard, with the option of changing the color to black or yellow and are combined with self-ventilating, perforated 305 mm discs. Improved handling with Koni FSD (Frequency Selective Evaporation) shock absorbers, standard for both front and rear improved handling and stability.

Other eye-catching exterior refinements include new colors. Competizione is the new Rally Blue, a matte color inspired by the 1970s Fiat 131 Abarth Rally, while the new 17-inch alloy wheels are the 1990s Lancia Delta Rally Integrale alloy wheels. The body color body kit for this version is available with the new Rally Blue or Scorpione Black colors. Esseesse integrates new titanium pipes for the Akrapovič exhaust system to give it a little more craftsmanship. All models are equipped with polyethylene headlights and LED daytime running lights as standard.

Three sets of Abarth assemblies are also available for drivers trying to differentiate their car. The 160 HP Tune-Up Kit increases engine power from 145 to 160 HP. Conversions also include Koni front and rear hangers, Eibach front and rear springs, Ferrodo brake pads, and Abarth Elaborazione outer badges. The kit is delivered to the customer in a wooden box, indicating a past Abarth conversion kit. For Turismo, the 180HP Tune-Up Kit includes Koni front hangers, Brembo floating front brake discs with red calipers, Ferodo brake pads and the Abarth Elaborazione badge. The Record Monza exhaust system kit includes Esseesse white and titanium alloy wheels, mirror caps, bearing covers and carbon fiber board fascia, gear buttons, impact plates and pedal boards made of aluminum and carbon fiber.

Overall, the retro-style Abarth 595 interior looks cool and has character bags. Travel is fun, but everyday life is comfortable and practical. Competitive models include the Ford Fiesta ST, Suzuki Swift Sport and VW UP GTI.
