Iranian army chief killed in Tehran – SABC News

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards say one of their staff members, Colonel Sayad Khodai, has been killed in an unusual attack in Tehran, according to the Tasnim news agency.
Two people on a motorcycle opened fire in Khodai, according to a messenger.
Khodai is said to be “one of the temple’s defenders”, which is said to have been fought by Iranian forces or advisers fighting to protect Shiite sites in Iraq or Iraq. Syria against the same as the Islamic State.

“Temple defenders” also include Afghan volunteers in Pakistan.
Iran has been sending troops to Syria since the start of its civil war to support its ally, President Basharal-Assad, against Sunni rebels.
