Kaiser Chiefs Legend William Shongwe advised the disgraced veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune search a move loan away from the Soweto giants.
The Bafana Bafana international has dropped the pecking order at Amakhosi which has meant he has had limited playing time in the last couple of seasons.
Itumeleng Khune is already 35 years old
“For me he should seek credit as you don’t want to dump Bruce Bvuma now.” said Shongwe kicking off.
Itumeleng Khune turned 35 on Monday this week while Bvuma is still only 27.
“Bvuma has been outstanding, he is the future and he will be there for the next 10 years or so,” added Shongwe
“He’s shown in very difficult times that he’s definitely a goalkeeper to be reckoned with.
“He got Chiefs to bounce back and make it in the top 8 so you can’t drop Bvuma again and get him to restart the clock.
“The only challenge is that for Khune, who was born at Kaizer Chiefs, sometimes it becomes more difficult to imagine himself somewhere other than home.
“Otherwise the alternative would have been to maybe go other ways and borrow.
“I’m sure there are plenty of other teams that could use his skills and experience compared to him just sitting on the bench training and training week in and week out.”
Shongwe added that Khune could also take on a coaching role as he reaches the twilight of his career.
“According to some people I’ve spoken to, it will depend on how Khune reacts to the coaching course he’s been on.
“If he loves it, management might consider it as an option because it was difficult for him to get back to the position where he could claim first place.
“I don’t think Khune is done at all, I still feel like he has what it takes.
“I mean at the last DStv Compact Cup he gave us a glimpse of who Khune is.
“He rebounded so hard he’s far from finished.
“For me, he still has three good seasons ahead of him.”
