JOHANNESBURG – Johannesburg’s emergency services are on high alert – following severe weather warnings.

A woman has been rescued after getting into trouble trying to cross the Jukskei River.

“From our end, as the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, we continue to monitor the seven regions of the city, particularly our low areas which are our informal settlements to ensure that if any incidents do arise, we are able to respond as quickly as possible, we also have our swift water rescue on high alert,” EMS spokesman Robert Mulaudzi said.

Meanwhile, 3 children have died in southern KwaZulu-Natal – which has been hit by heavy rains and strong winds.
