Johannesburg residents urged to be economical with electricity this weekend – City Power – SABC News

Johannesburg’s power company – City Power – is urging residents to be smart about electricity this weekend as it expects additional pressure on its grid as electricity consumption increases due to the cold weather.
A statement from the utility said: “Our technicians have been placed on standby in the event of any problems due to severe weather. We urge our customers to reduce the use of heavy equipment such as water heaters, stoves, electric blankets, pool pumps, etc.”

Meanwhile, the South African Weather Service has forecast cold weather and heavy downpours for this weekend.
Temperatures in Gauteng are expected to hit 12 degrees on Saturday and 11 degrees on Sunday.
