Actor Johnny Depp is expected to testify in a Virginia court on Tuesday in a U.S. foul trial where he charges first wife and actor Amber Heard with false accusations of acting. force during their relationship undermines its function.
Depp, 58, accused Heard, 35, of defaming him when he wrote a December 2018 opinion piece in the Washington Post about being a home pollution survivor. He filed a $ 50 million lawsuit against Heard in 2018.
The report did not name Depp by name, but Depp’s lawyer Benjamin Chew told jurors a week ago that Heard was apparently referring to a Hollywood boss.
Lawyers for Heard argued that he was truthful and that his views were protected as a right to freedom of expression under the First Amendment of the US Constitution.
Witnesses called by Depp’s lawyers included friends of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star and a doctor and nurse who said they had treated him for drug use. The witnesses testified that they knew the conflict between the couple but had not seen physical opposition from Depp to Heard.
Debbie Lloyd, who worked as a nurse for Depp while negotiating with Heard, said the March 8 video was made for jurors on Monday. “They’re going to make him angry, add pressure.”
When the lawyer asked Depp if he knew that any arguments between Depp and Heard became flesh, Lloyd replied, “No.”
A state judge in Fairfax County, Virginia, is handling the case, which is in its second week and is expected to last six weeks.
Less than two years ago, Depp dropped a slander against The Sun, a British tabloid calling him a “wife killer.” A London magistrate said he repeatedly attacked Heard and put him at risk for his life.
In the US case, Depp and Heard both listed a long list of witnesses who could be put on the stand.
Heard’s list includes his former boyfriend and Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk, with whom he wrote to Depp. Also on the list of witnesses is James Franco.
The Washington Post was not charged in the case. Depp’s attorneys have said they filed the lawsuit in Fairfax County, on the outskirts of the District of Columbia, because the newspaper was published in the local office.

Hear, a man known for his work in “Aquaman” and “Justice League,” has filed a defamation suit against Depp, alleging that he insulted her by calling her a liar.
Heard’s repayment will be determined as part of the trial. Heard is seeking $ 100 million in damages from Depp, the newspaper reported.
Following the November 2020 decision and the London scandal, Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen replaced Depp in the third film with the title “Fantastic Beasts”, based on the book “Harry Potter”.
