Lack of title spills Liverpool Champions League: Klopp – SABC News

Manager Juergen Klopp said he missed the Premier League title on the final day of the season, giving Liverpool an extra advantage in the Champions League final.

Liverpool beat the Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield 3-1 from the back, but the City cut back from the 2-0, beating the Aston Villa and winning the league titles.

Liverpool, who have already won the League Cup and the FA Cup, could increase their collection with a seventh European crown in Saturday’s final of the Champions League against Real Madrid.

“This season is absolutely incredible and not ending today, but obviously ending next week,” Klopp told reporters. “And there we try everything.
“We have five days to prepare for the final, we will do that.
“And of course, losing today’s league has increased the desire to get it right next week, and that has increased the desire.”

Klopp also congratulated City and manager Pep Guardiola on earning their fourth Premier League title in five years. “I’m proud, but of course disappointed,” Klopp said. “There could be worse scenarios, if you were one point higher and you didn’t reach it, it could be even worse.
“Congratulations to Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, all the staff, all the players, the whole club for becoming champions. We were close, but not close enough in the end. That’s just the way it is. “

Liverpool will play against the Spanish champion in Paris on May 28 in the rematch of the 2018 show in Kiev, which Real Madrid won 3-1.
