JOHANNESBURG — The Gauteng Department of Education has announced nearly 50 walk-in centers across the province to process admissions applications from parents who cannot access the online platform, which officially opens on Friday.

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi on Thursday presented plans for the online application process for Year 1 and Year 8 students for the 2023 school year.

Lesufi said that although the efficiency of the admissions system has been improved, parents should not wait until the eleventh hour to avoid disappointment.

The MEC said parents or guardians without internet access can visit one of 48 decentralized walk-in centers located in the province’s 15 school districts.

He said they can also visit one of the designated public libraries: “We have 105 community libraries that will be available to help parents who don’t have internet access. We urge community leaders, especially councillors, to help community members get to these libraries. »

Lesufi urged parents to submit correct information and valid documents during the five-step virtual application process.

Those unable to submit online have the option of submitting at schools of their choice when applying.
