Madrid Open win moves Alcaraz to sixth place in the rankings – SABC Sport

After beating Alexander Zverev (German) at the Madrid Open Sunday, Spanish tennis genius Carlos Alcaraz climbed to sixth place in the men’s ATP rankings.
The 19-year-old champion had beaten his compatriots Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic en route to the final.

Spanish teenage sensation Carlos Alcaraz rose three places in the rankings to sixth but will miss this week’s tournament in Rome with an ankle injury to be fit for the French Open which begins on Sunday 22 May .
Djokovic maintains his No. 1 ranking while No. 2 Daniil Medvedev, who has recovered from hernia surgery, is set to return to action at the Geneva Open next week. Australian Open champion Nadal remains at his No. 4
