The French extended their winning streak to seven games where Kylian Mbappe with a two-goal goal and Olivier Giroud broke through in a 5-0 victory against South Africa in a friendly match on Tuesday.
The world champions, who have not lost since being knocked out of the last 16 of the European Championship by Switzerland in a penalty shootout last year, never had a problem with a team they had not met since the 2010 World Cup.
That year, France went out of the finals after a notorious meltdown off the field where players went on strike, but Didier Deschamps’s were very businesslike on Tuesday as Wissam Ben Yedder and Matteo Guendouzi added goals late.
South Africa finished with 10 men after Khuliso Mudau received a straight red card for a hard fight on Lucas Digne with six minutes left at Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille.

Mbappe, who missed his 2-1 win over Ivory Coast with a throat and nose infection, was back in the starting line-up along with Giroud while midfielder Ngolo Kante was also returning after dropping out last Friday for personal reasons.
France started cheerfully and Giroud headed over the bar by Ronwen Williams after five minutes.
Mbappe put Les Bleus ahead 23 minutes into the match after stopping a shot by the visitors’ Antoine Griezmann.
Giroud doubled the lead 10 minutes later with a low shot from inside the box after a legal combination of Mbappe and Griezmann.
It was Giroud’s 48th goal for France in his 112th game, which put him three times short of Frenchman Thierry Henry’s all-time record of AC Milan striker Karim Benzema’s absence.
Mbappe will hope to be hot on Giroud’s heels after scoring his 26th goal in 54 caps with a penalty in the 76th minute after Siyanda Xulu was sent off.
Ben Yedder added a fourth goal and Guendouzi rubbed salt into the visitors’ wounds with a great curling effort in injury time.
