Gender parity is such an important electoral tool because parties know, through commission and inaction, that the feminization of poverty exists over the years. Women have had to suffer this disadvantage, without their consent, whether through child maintenance defaulters, not having maternity leave, or suffering a pay discrepancy, compared to their male colleagues at work.
