Moerane was dedicated to transforming disadvantaged communities: Tau – SABC News

Gauteng MEC of Economic Development Parks Tau says the late Mpho Moerane was committed to transforming the lives of those in disadvantaged communities.

Tau paid tribute to the late former mayor of Joburg at the memorial service in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg.

Moerane died Wednesday from injuries sustained after a car accident.

Tau says this is a difficult time. But all who worked with him must bear the brunt and continue where Moerane left off.

Tau has described Moerane’s death as a gaping hole in the ANC in Gauteng.

“Mpho Moerane is leaving in a difficult time when he joins his predecessors in less than a year. We must deal with the pain of losing dedicated frameworks at a time of guaranteeing fundamental socio-economic transformation, during a process of renewal in the movement to transform the life of the historically disadvantaged.

‘Unselfish and generous leader’

Speaker after speaker praised Moerane as a selfless and generous leader. Mike Mongwe of Cosatu says: “This is the time to celebrate the life of Mpho Moerane. We are here to support the Moeranes. The last time I spoke to Moerane was in the final campaign phase of the 2021. local government elections. was for the rights of the working class.

SACP’s Bongi Dlamini says: “We say sympathy to the Moerane family. As SACP in the province and Johannesburg we can not say we understand because we have lost two leaders to Moerane. It is not pleasant The struggle for the working class must continue.

Moerane will be buried next Sunday.
