Montjane is looking forward to Wimbledon and the French Open – SABC Sport

Wheelchair tennis ace Kgothasso Montjane is ready to compete at the Wimbledon and French Open. The French Open starts on Sunday May 22nd and ends on Sunday June 5th. She will move to Wimbledon from Monday 27 June to Sunday 10 July.
In January, she competed in the Australian Wheelchair Tennis Summer Series, reached the semi-finals and suffered an injury. She’s gone through rehabilitation and is ready to return to Europe for a few games to prepare for the two big tournaments.

The Paralympic star said she had work to do at Wimbledon, where she reached the semi-finals last year. She added that the event in Australia would serve as a learning curve.

At 35, she’s still doing well with no signs of slowing down; Montjane says she is ready to return to competition:
“In January I was out of the country where I competed in the Australian Wheelchair Summer Series Tennis, finishing in the semi-finals of the three events I’ve competed in, including the Australian Open, yaah, which is my first Competing for and since have been I’ve really competed due to being out due to injury but now I’m feeling better and ready to get back to competing.

Montjane will play for Team SA at the World Team Cup in Portugal before shifting her focus to begin her preparations for Wimbledon after recovering from a three-month injury. She plans to train on the grass in London for two weeks before the tournament. She thinks she can do well in Europe.
