Fifty-eight people were injured, including two children, after the bus they were traveling lost control and overturned on the R56 near Ixopo on the south coast of KwaZulu-Natal on Monday evening.
This follows last week’s bus crash on the N3 near the Tugela river, which killed 10 people.
In the latest incident, KwaZulu-Natal Private Ambulance Service spokesperson Craig Botha said the injured were treated before being taken to hospital for further treatment.
“Yesterday evening, KwaZulu-Natal Natal private ambulance services responded to R56 near Umkomaas Valley Ixopo. When emergency services arrived, they discovered a bus had lost control and overturned paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that 58 patients had been injured. 10 patients suffered serious injuries, 26 patients suffered serious injuries and 22 suffered minor injuries. Among the injured, two children. The patients were all treated on site before being transported to hospital.
In another crash near Ixopo last month, 10 people were killed while around 12 were injured.
