The National Voluntary Blood Donor Association held a workshop on April 29 in Asmara with the theme “Institutional Integration for Community-Based Blood Donor Activities”.
Indicating that ensuring the availability of blood to patients requires a growing understanding of the community, Ms. Aelm Berhe, chair of the association, said that the aim of the workshop was to develop community-based voluntary blood donation.
Yohannes Tekeste, Director of the National Blood Transfusion Service, on his part said that compared to previous years the blood collected in 2021 increased by 90% and it proves the increasing public understanding of the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving. life.
On the occasion, Mr. Gebremicael Tesfazghi, Head of Health Promotion Division of the Ministry of Health, called for concerted efforts from all partners to enrich the National Blood Transfusion Service.
The participants had extensive discussions about the reports presented and adopted various recommendations.
