Nelson Mandela Bay water supply runs dry as Impofu Dam levels run low – SABC News

Taps are running dry for the Nelson Mandela Bay metro, after the municipality’s maintenance team discovered that due to low water levels, no more water could be extracted from the Impofu dam.

At least 30 suburbs in the subway have been hit by the outage.

The municipality says the current water stop would continue for another 48 hours, however, in the meantime water would be drawn from the Kouga-Loerie system to make up for the shortfall.

However, this could only be done in the short term.

The combined level of the five supply dams to the metro is currently at 12.22% and residents are being urged to use water.

Water vehicles are deployed to the affected areas.
