Noncembu, Potgieter could fill two vacancies in the Eastern Cape High Court Division in Gqeberha – SABC News

Two judges nominated for Gqeberha’s Supreme Court in Gqeberha, Vuyokazi Noncembu and Denzil Potgieter’s lawyer, could run for two vacant seats if President Cyril Ramaphosa approves the JSC’s Judiciary Committee’s proposals.

Six candidates were interviewed in Sandton, Johannesburg, for the two positions on Wednesday before the commissioners began considering the two best nominations.

Noncembu is the President of the District Court of Northwest Iceland, who has also served as a judge in various high courts.

Doris Tshepe, JSC’s spokeswoman, announced the two candidates recommended at a news conference on Wednesday night.

“As you know, the Judiciary Committee has interviewed six applicants for two vacancies in the Eastern Cape Supreme Court in Gqeberha. “After the interview and the discussions, the Judiciary Committee has voted to advise the President to appoint the following two parties: Miss VP Noncembu and Adv Potgieter SC,” said Tshepe.
