Brazilian footballer Pele was discharged from hospital on Thursday, according to Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, three days after he was admitted to continue treatment for colitis.
Pele’s clinical condition is good and stable, doctors said.
Generally considered the best footballer of all time, this 81-year-old player underwent surgery to remove the tumor in September 2021 and has since been regularly in and out of hospital for treatment.
In February, Pele was admitted for chemotherapy when a urinary tract infection was discovered that kept him inside longer than expected.
Former Brazilian striker Santos and the New York Cosmos have struggled with a number of health problems in recent years, including a hip operation that left him with recurrent pain and difficulty walking without assistance.
Pele has reduced public appearances but remains active on social media.
