Is South African Sports Federation and Olympic Committee (Sasco) Announced South African Olympic and Paralympic uniforms for this year’s Tokyo Olympics.

At the ICC in Durban on Thursday, SA athlete apparel was on display at a fashion show.

Four young local designers worked with local sportswear retailer Mr Price Sport to design the team’s official kit.

After seeing a player in an oversized tracksuit in Brazil at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Team South Africa responded to anti-aircraft fire.

The 2016 kit made by a Chinese company called 361º Strictly scrutinized Athletes and spectators reported in the media, as some have said they resemble the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

However, this is the first time that South African Olympic and Paralympic team apparel has been designed locally.

Four designers, Mbali Zulu, Nompumelelo Mjadu, Sandile Sikhakhane and Sipho Lushaba, are products of the Durban Fashion Fair Development Program, which provides skills development and mentorship.

From the opening ceremony to the podium, billions of eyes are on South Africa for the Olympics (July 23 to August 8) and Paralympics (August 24 to September 5) ..

At the opening ceremony ensemble, the team wears an animal print look and combines the Veldskoen-provided velries (leather field shoes).

The Mr Price Sport team has harnessed their design talent to create iconic team kit graphics in the form of new large protea icons.

“Our team has agreed with Sascoc that we need powerful graphic icons that look good on the camera,” said Dylan Cherry, Head of Marketing at Price Sport. “Our players shoot on a variety of media platforms. Our proud South African Protea will be recognized around the world because it has been. “

Developed by Mr Price Sport, the Maxed Elite series offers both the technical apparel needed for multiple sporting events and the tracksuits worn on the podium after each event.

“For Team SA, it’s great to be able to showcase the talent of these four young designers on the biggest sports stage,” said Barry Hendrix, President of Sascoc.

“We are grateful to have been given the opportunity to put our work on the world map. Our Team SA athletes proudly wear this kit and their appearance and outfits. Will be eye-catching from other participating countries. “
