At Primrose Hill Elementary School, teaching and learning returned to the field after two classrooms burned down on Sunday.

Steve Mabona, a spokesman for the Gauteng education department, said: “Learning continued on Monday as students occupying the two burned classrooms were temporarily relocated to another location in the school.”

The classrooms were burning, smoke billowing outside

The circumstances of the fire at Primrose Hill Primary School are still being investigated.

On February 27, the Disaster and Emergency Service (DEMS) of Ekurhulen arrived at the school and found that the two classrooms were on fire.

Mabona said the cause of the fire had not yet been clarified and added that police were investigating the fire.
